Security Forces Recover IED in Baramulla, J&K

Bomb disposal squad deployed after roadside device detected in Baramulla ahead of Republic Day

Srinagar, Jan 20: Security forces on Tuesday successfully detected an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway, officials said, averting a potential tragedy.

The IED was reportedly placed by suspected terrorists by the roadside at Takiya Tapper in the Pattani area of Baramulla district. A patrol party of security personnel discovered the device, following which a bomb disposal squad was rushed to the location to neutralise it.

The incident comes less than a week before Republic Day, prompting heightened vigilance across the Kashmir Valley. Security has been stepped up amid concerns that terrorists may attempt subversive activities during the national celebrations.

Officials said the timely detection and response underscore the alertness of the security forces in the region.
