Senior National Badminton 2025: Tanvi Sharma, Rounak Chauhan, and Tanvi Patri Advance to Quarterfinals
Upcoming Indian shuttlers continue strong performance with key wins at Vijayawada Championships
India, Dec 26 : India’s rising badminton stars Tanvi Sharma, Rounak Chauhan, and Tanvi Patri continued their impressive run at the 87th Senior National Badminton Championships in Vijayawada on Thursday, securing victories to reach the quarterfinals.
World Junior Championships silver medallist Tanvi Sharma edged past 10th seed Devika Sihag 21-11, 10-21, 21-10 in a tightly contested women’s singles pre-quarterfinal. Tanvi Patri also advanced after defeating Parul Choudhary 21-14, 21-17. Sharma will next face Rakshita Sree, while Patri is set to take on experienced campaigner Aakarshi Kashyap.
Top seeds continued their march forward as Unnati Hooda overcame Meghana Reddy 19-21, 21-14, 21-12, and second seed Anupama Upadhyaya defeated Anvi Rathore 21-13, 21-5 to reach the quarters.
In men’s singles, Rounak Chauhan pulled off an upset against sixth seed Lakshya Sharma 21-16, 21-16. Aryaman Tandon and Abhinav Garg also created shocks in earlier rounds, while Rithvik Sanjeevi S. added to the list of surprises.
The mixed doubles event saw Nitin Kumar and Kanika Kanwal topple the 6th-seeded pair Kevin Wong CC and Pranavi N 23-21, 21-15.
Earlier in the tournament, experienced players Shruti Mundada and Parul Choudhary had caused upsets to advance to the pre-quarterfinals, while Tanvi Patri defeated eighth seed Isharani Baruah 22-20, 21-19.
With the quarterfinals set, attention turns to the clash between emerging juniors and seasoned performers as the competition heats up.
