Shah: Hindi Can Progress Only by Promoting and Protecting Other Indian Languages
On Hindi Diwas, the Union Home Minister calls India’s linguistic diversity a source of strength and cultural richness.
NEW DELHI, Sep 14: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said the advancement of Hindi would have true meaning only when it takes place alongside the dignity, promotion and protection of all other Indian languages.
Greeting people on the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Shah highlighted India’s rich linguistic diversity and described the country’s numerous languages as a major source of strength rather than a weakness.
In a message marking the occasion, the Home Minister said India’s linguistic variety reflects its cultural prosperity and should be preserved and encouraged.
Shah stressed that Hindi should develop in harmony with the country’s other regional and Indian languages, rather than at their expense.
He said every language represents an important part of India’s cultural identity and contributes to the nation’s linguistic heritage.
