Shah Rukh Khan’s Security Escalated to Y+ Amidst Death Threats: Maharashtra Government Takes Action
08-10-2023 : The security detail for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been elevated to Y+ status by the Maharashtra government in response to death threats he has recently received. The actor formally filed a complaint with the state government, citing a series of threatening calls he had received following the success of his films ‘Pathan’ and ‘Jawan’.
In the wake of this complaint, a high-powered committee convened to assess the nature of the threats and evaluate Khan’s security requirements. Subsequently, the Maharashtra State Intelligence Department issued an official directive to all police commissionerates, district police, and special protection units (SPUs) across the state, instructing them to provide Shah Rukh Khan with “Y+ security, including an escort team.”
The Y+ security category entails a dedicated team of 11 security personnel, comprising six commandos, four police personnel, and a traffic clearance vehicle. These security personnel will be stationed at Khan’s residence, Mannat, as per information from a police source.
It is noteworthy that the actor himself will bear the financial responsibility for this increased security coverage.
Shah Rukh Khan has been the subject of security concerns in the past. In 2010, his security detail was bolstered due to threats he received surrounding the release of his film “My Name Is Khan.” Additionally, last year, a controversy arose concerning the song “Besharam Rang” from Khan’s movie “Pathaan,” with a seer from Ayodhya issuing a threat against the actor.
In the realm of box office success, Khan’s high-octane thriller “Jawan” has made significant waves. The film has reportedly grossed a staggering Rs 1103.27 crore worldwide, marking a remarkable achievement in Indian cinema. Directed by Atlee, “Jawan” was released on September 7, 2022, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. The production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, proudly shared the film’s impressive collection on social media, highlighting its historic achievement as “the first Hindi film in the history of Indian cinema to cross Rs 1100 crore at the global box office.”
The breakdown of the film’s earnings includes an India gross box office collection of Rs 733.37 crore and an overseas box office collection of Rs 369.90 crore, as stated by the film’s makers. This remarkable success further cements Shah Rukh Khan’s stature as one of the most prominent and influential actors in the Indian film industry.
