Shimla, Oct 23: Himachal Pradesh’s capital, fondly known as the ‘Queen of Hills,’ is all set to host the Paragliding Pre-World Cup and Pre Asian League Championships from October 25, coinciding with the Shimla Flying Festival and Hospitality Expo 2025. The event was announced by Arun Rawat, founder of The Glide Inn Adventure Resort and organiser of the festival, who highlighted its significance in putting Himachal Pradesh on the global adventure tourism map.
“Through this festival, we aim to showcase courage, community, and collaboration while promoting Himachal as a premier hub for international air sports,” Rawat said. He added that the event will create a confluence of adventure, culture, and commerce, empowering local businesses and inspiring the next generation of adventure enthusiasts.
The championship will feature pilots from over seven countries, including a top ranked pilot from China participating in India for the first time, underscoring the country’s growing prominence in global paragliding circuits.
Running alongside the championship, the Hospitality Expo 2025 will display offerings from more than 60 small, micro, and self-help groups (SHGs) from across Himachal Pradesh, highlighting organic foods, handicrafts, wellness products, and eco-friendly innovations. The expo will serve as a platform to boost rural entrepreneurship, MSMEs, and women-led businesses.
Adding to the festivities, celebrated folk singer Kuldeep Sharma, aka ‘The Nati King,’ will perform live on October 25, while international wrestling icon The Great Khali (Daleep Singh Rana) will make a special appearance on October 26. The festival will conclude on October 28 with a valedictory ceremony attended by Shimla MLA Harish Janartha and Dr. Rajnish, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, MSME.
Organised by The Glide Inn Adventure Resort in collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department, District Administration, and Ministry of MSME, Government of India, the festival and championships aim to firmly establish Shimla as a global destination for adventure tourism and eco-friendly initiatives.
