JAMMU,13-07-2023 : Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit has accused the administration over mismanagement in the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. Addressing a press conference at Party’s Central Office in Jammu, State President Manish Sahni stated that despite the resumption of the Yatra after the bad weather conditions, the problems faced by the pilgrims and tourists have not been resolved. The pilgrims, as well as those providing services such as taxis, porters, and hotels, are struggling with various difficulties, he said.
Sahni highlighted the issues faced by the pilgrims, including long waits for registration at the base camp and inadequate facilities. He also pointed out the shortage of electricity and water, which has added to the problems faced by the pilgrims. The deteriorating condition of the roads has also raised concerns about the claims of providing better facilities, he added.
“Taxi drivers, mini-bus drivers, and porters providing services from Pahalgam to Chandanwari are also facing increasing formalities and challenges every day. Additionally, pilgrims visiting other tourist destinations in Kashmir after the Darshan of the Holy Cave of Amarnath are facing difficulties in returning to Jammu and their respective destinations. The closure of certain roads in Pahalgam due to security concerns has added to the hardships faced by pilgrims and tourists,” Sahni said.
Sahni appealed to the Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, who is also the Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, to personally monitor the management of the Yatra and ensure immediate improvement in facilities and assistance to the local people providing services.Along with this, Sahni has appealed to take necessary steps to keep the holy Himshivling safe for darshan during the yatra period.
Sahni also shared some photographs of pilgrims facing difficulties at the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam, where they are unable to find transport. The sudden increase in formalities for taxi drivers has created an unexpected situation, he added.
