Shivani Charak Secures Double Silver Glory at 27th IMF Sport Climbing Championship in Bengaluru

Jammu, 24-12-2023 : Shivani Charak, a highly accomplished sport climber from Jammu and Kashmir, continued to shine by clinching a Silver medal in the women’s Bouldering category on the second day of the 27th IMF Sport Climbing Championship. The event, organized by the General Thimmayya National Academy of Adventure, took place at Yavanika, Bengaluru. This achievement came hot on the heels of Shivani’s earlier Silver medal in Lead climbing on the opening day of the competition.

Despite initially securing the third position in the semi-finals, Shivani showcased remarkable resilience and skill in the final round. Both Shivani and Anisha demonstrated exceptional prowess by topping three boulders and earning all four bonus points. The final result, however, hinged on the attempts made to achieve these feats. Anisha Verma, having made fewer attempts, was declared the winner, leaving Shivani Charak in a commendable second place. The third spot was secured by Saniya Farooque Sheikh, another accomplished international climber from Maharashtra.

In the Speed competition, Shivani Charak also advanced to the semi-finals in the Women’s category, setting the stage for an intense evening of competition.

The spotlight also fell on Kafeel Ul Haq and Ankit Singh, participating in their inaugural National Competition in the Sub Junior Boys category. Despite facing stiff competition from both national and international climbers and grappling with their relative inexperience, the duo couldn’t unleash their full potential. Nevertheless, the competition served as a valuable exposure and learning experience for these promising young climbers, laying the groundwork for their future growth in the sport.
