Jammu, April 10: In a shocking and brazen act of violence, a police team on duty in the Bari Brahmana area of the Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir was attacked late last night by suspected drug peddlers. Among the injured was a Station House Officer (SHO), highlighting the severity of the confrontation and the growing audacity of criminal elements in the region.

According to police sources, the team had launched a late-night operation in the Balole Khad area as part of an ongoing crackdown on criminal and drug-related activities. During the operation, the officers encountered stiff resistance from the suspects, who launched a violent attack on the law enforcement personnel. Several policemen sustained injuries during the incident, with three of them, including the SHO, reportedly in serious condition.

In view of their injuries, the three critically wounded personnel were immediately evacuated and shifted to a specialized medical facility in Amritsar, Punjab, for advanced treatment and care. Their condition is being closely monitored by medical experts.

Sources confirmed that police have cordoned off the area and launched a full-scale manhunt to track down and apprehend the attackers. Additional reinforcements have been deployed to prevent any further escalation, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of law.

This incident not only underscores the persistent threat posed by organized drug syndicates in the region but also reflects the high risks faced by police officers working on the frontlines. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to root out the drug menace and bringing the culprits behind the attack to justice at the earliest.
