Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Jammu celebrate 191st Birth anniversary of Krantijyoti Mata Savitri Bai Phule
03-01-2023 : Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Bahu Fort, Jammu celebrated 191st Birth anniversary of Krantijyoti Mata Savitri Bai Phule. She was born on 3rd January 1831 at village Naigaon of district Satara of Maharashtra State. She was married to Mahatma Jyotirao Phule in 1840. She was Indian social reformer, educationist and poet. She became first female teacher in India. She alongwith her husband Mahatma Jyotirao Phule opened first girl’s school on Ist January 1848 at Pune. Savitri Bai Phule played an important role in fighting for the rights of women during British rule. Now so many schools, colleges have been opened on the name of Savitri Bai Phule. Pune University has been named as Savitri Bai Phule University. The Govt of India should declare 3rd January as National Women’s Day.
Sham Lal Basson General Secretary SGRDS Bahu Fort said that Sabha organised competition of students on the life and mission of Krantijyoti Mata Savitri Bai Phule and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule on 28th Dec 2022. Miss Jyotsana Kalsi stood Ist, Sanjeev Bhagat:- Second, Sneha bhagat:- 3rd, Mannat Khokar :- 3rd among 10th and above category. Umang stood first among middle class category. The Sabha honoured them with Ambedkar- Shahu- Phule Awards. Medical cum awareness camp was organised on this occasion. The free consultation and medicines were provided to the needy persons, Dr Vias Dev- Orthopedic surgeon and Dr Vinod Katil physician. Dr. Samriti. About 200 persons were examined and free medicines were given About 100 BMD tests were done free of cost for assessing bone health. Dr. Samriti delivered lecture on general awareness for adolescent girls. These prominent doctors also delivered lectures on different health issues.
