SIA Files 737-Page Chargesheet in 1990 Kashmiri Pandit Nurse Murder Case
Yasin Malik named as accused as long-pending case from insurgency era sees major legal breakthrough.
Srinagar, June 30: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) has filed a massive 737-page chargesheet before a Special Court in Srinagar in connection with the 1990 abduction and killing of Kashmiri Pandit nurse Sarla Bhat, marking a significant development in a decades-old case.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader Yasin Malik has been named in the chargesheet, bringing renewed focus on one of the most sensitive and long-pending cases linked to the early years of militancy in the region.
Officials said the detailed chargesheet outlines evidence, witness statements, and investigative findings related to the abduction and murder case, which has remained unresolved for more than three decades.
The development is being seen as part of continued efforts by investigative agencies to revisit and legally pursue unresolved cases from the 1990s, particularly those involving targeted violence against the Kashmiri Pandit community.
Authorities have maintained that the judicial process will now take its course as the court examines the evidence submitted by the SIA.
