JAMMU: JKPCC General Secretary and DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony today asserted that sincere patriotism is the first requirement in Islam.
Interacting with a delegation of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community headed by Nasir Iqbal, President of Jamaat Ahmadiyya Jammu, the senior Congress leader said that Islam teaches its followers to be loyal to the country they live in and to contribute to its progress and development.
“Islam is a religion of peace and harmony,” Tony said, adding “It teaches us to love our country and to work for its betterment.”
Tony praised the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for its commitment to peace and its contributions to society. He said that the community is a model for other communities to follow.
“The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a shining example of how Muslims can be loyal citizens of India,” Tony said, adding “They have made significant contributions to the fields of education, healthcare, and social service.”
Tony also called upon the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to continue to work for the upliftment of the poor and the downtrodden. He said that the community has a responsibility to help those who are less fortunate.
“The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has a long history of service to humanity,” Tony said. “I urge them to continue their work and to make a difference in the lives of others.”
The delegation of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community thanked Tony for his kind words and his appreciation of their community. They said that they are committed to working for the peace and prosperity of India.
“Love for one’s nation is a part of faith,” emphasized Nasir Iqbal, who led the delegation.
“Sincere patriotism is not just encouraged but required in Islam,” he elaborated. “To love God and follow Islam inherently means to love one’s nation.”
The delegation comprised of notable members such as Husam Ahmed, Editor of Lightofislam.in, Arif Ahmed Naik, a Missionary, and Saeed Ahmed Dar, Outreach Coordinator.
“We are proud to be Indian citizens and we will always strive to contribute to the development and progress of our nation,” Nasir added.
