Six Lose Lives in Yamuna Expressway Crash After Container Runs Over Passengers
Bus halt for a roadside break turns fatal as a speeding container truck crushes passengers in Mathura probe underway.
Mathura Feb 07 : At least six people lost their lives and one person was left critically injured after a speeding container truck ran over passengers on the Yamuna Expressway in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident took place around 2:45 am near milestone 88 under the Surir police station limits. Officials said a private bus travelling from Noida to Farrukhabad had stopped along the roadside after some passengers requested a restroom break. Instead of pulling into a designated green zone, the vehicle halted on the expressway shoulder.
As several passengers stepped out and gathered near the bus, a fast moving container truck approached from behind and ploughed into them, causing multiple fatalities on the spot.
Police identified four of the victims as Sonu from Auraiya, Devesh from Basti, Aslam from Kannauj and Santosh from Delhi. The identities of two others are yet to be established.
Amar Dubey, also from Auraiya, suffered severe injuries in the crash and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical.
Station House Officer Ajay Kumar confirmed that traffic movement was briefly affected but resumed after emergency teams cleared the site. Authorities have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances leading to the accident and fix accountability.
