Skoda Auto India Slashes Prices Across Lineup, Passes on GST Benefits to Customers
Price drop applies across Kodiaq, Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia, benefits to be passed on to buyers from September 22.
NEW DELHI, Sept 10: Skoda Auto India on Wednesday announced sweeping price reductions across its entire product portfolio, transferring the benefits of the recent GST rate restructuring directly to customers. The cuts, effective September 22, will make Skoda’s vehicles more affordable by up to ₹3.3 lakh, depending on the model.
The company confirmed that the Kodiaq SUV will witness the steepest drop, with prices reduced by up to ₹3,28,267, followed by the Kylaq compact SUV, which will see a reduction of up to ₹1,19,295. The popular Kushaq SUV will be cheaper by as much as ₹65,828, while the Slavia sedan will see a cut of up to ₹63,207.
Describing the tax restructuring as a landmark move, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Skoda Auto India, said: “This is a welcome step by the government. It benefits both the industry and our customers. With these reductions, our products are available at even more attractive prices, enabling us to reach a wider audience and strengthen our market position.”
In a bid to keep momentum high ahead of the official rollout, the company is offering limited-period discounts equivalent to the upcoming GST reduction on the Kushaq, Slavia, and Kodiaq models. These offers will remain valid until September 21.
The announcement comes on the heels of last week’s GST Council decision to slash rates on automobiles, reducing tax on small cars from 28% to 18%, while fixing a flat 40% rate on luxury vehicles. Analysts estimate the changes could bring down on-road vehicle prices by 5–8% on average, with passenger vehicles expected to see an overall drop of 2–9%.
Skoda is not alone in passing on these benefits. Several leading automakers, including Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Hyundai, and Mercedes-Benz India, have already unveiled similar price cuts across their lineups. Industry experts believe this wave of reductions will boost consumer sentiment, drive demand in the festive season, and provide a much-needed fillip to the automotive sector.
