Search Ends After Severe Snowstorm Claims Second Paratrooper in Kokernag
SRINAGAR, Oct 10: The body of a second Paratrooper has been recovered from the snowbound heights of Kokernag in South Kashmir, three days after he went missing during an anti-militancy operation amid a severe snowstorm.
Officials said the soldier was located during the ongoing search and rescue mission, launched after communication was lost with the two personnel operating in the treacherous terrain. Earlier, the body of the first Paratrooper had been recovered from the same area.
Both soldiers were part of a special operation team conducting searches in the challenging snow-covered heights of Kokernag. The recovery of the second body has concluded the intensive search operation, despite freezing temperatures and rugged terrain.
Army sources confirmed that the mortal remains will be sent for formal identification, followed by the completion of military honors.
