Srinagar Airport Reopens for Flights After Snow Removal
Runway and taxiways cleared by AAI and BRO, normal flight services expected
SRINAGAR, Jan 24: Flight operations at Srinagar Airport resumed on Saturday after a day-long suspension caused by heavy snowfall, officials said.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI), working alongside the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), cleared the runway, apron, and taxiways early Saturday morning following improved weather conditions.
Friday’s snowfall had forced the airport to halt operations as snow accumulated on the runway, resulting in multiple flight cancellations.
Officials confirmed that a flight has already landed at the aerodrome, signaling the resumption of services. A joint inspection ensured the runway was safe for operations.
While flight operations are expected to run smoothly, some early-morning cancellations occurred due to adverse weather, including an Indigo flight, and a few others were affected by a NOTAM issued for Delhi. Minor delays were also reported for certain flights.
Authorities have assured passengers that services will continue normally as weather conditions remain stable.
