Srinagar Police Nab Six Fugitives, Some on the Run for Over Two Decades

Srinagar, Oct 18: In a significant law enforcement achievement, Srinagar Police on Saturday arrested six long-time absconders involved in multiple criminal cases, some of whom had evaded justice for over two decades.

The arrested individuals include Mehraj-ud-Din Marazi (11 years on the run, NDPS Act), Arshid Ahmad Shoora (8 years, NI Act), and Habibulla Bhat (27 years, IPC Section 294). Others apprehended were Gowhar Ahmad Wani (4 years, IPC Sections 379/511), Mashooq Ahmad Sheikh (4 years, IPC Section 379), and Uneeb Mukhtiyar Nathkhan (16 years, IPC Section 379).

Acting on precise intelligence inputs, the Srinagar Police formed a special team to conduct a targeted operation, leading to the successful capture of these fugitives. Following their arrest, all six were produced before the Hon’ble Court in Srinagar after completing necessary legal formalities.

A Srinagar Police statement reaffirmed the force’s commitment to uphold the rule of law, emphasizing that no individual evading justice will remain beyond the reach of the authorities.
