Sunil Sharma Slams Government, Calls Assembly Session Too Short to Address Public Issues

BJP leader says limited session duration and government inaction are failing Jammu and Kashmir citizens

Srinagar, Oct 23: Jammu and Kashmir Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Sunil Sharma on Thursday criticised the state government over the short duration of the autumn Assembly session, calling it insufficient to address urgent public concerns.

“It is unfortunate that the government has allotted only 5-6 days for the session,” Sharma said, expressing disappointment over the limited time for debate.

He highlighted pressing issues such as electricity, water, and road infrastructure, emphasising that citizens are still awaiting basic facilities. “The government has failed on all fronts,” he added.

Sharma also took aim at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, saying, “The opposition had high expectations from him. Unfortunately, he neither provided sufficient time for the session nor prioritised the welfare of the people.”

Despite the short session, Sharma asserted that the opposition is prepared to raise public concerns effectively. “We are ready for it,” he said.

On the Rajya Sabha elections, he expressed confidence, stating that the BJP is fully prepared and optimistic about winning.
