Supreme Court Examines Benefits for Disabled Military Cadets
Top court questions denial of ex-servicemen status to injured trainees
New Delhi, Apr 06 : The Supreme Court of India has raised critical questions regarding the status of military cadets who become disabled during training, asking whether they should be granted ex-servicemen benefits.
A bench led by Justice B V Nagarathna observed that many affected cadets are young and may struggle to secure employment without institutional support. The court urged the Centre to clarify its stance on extending reservation and rehabilitation benefits to such individuals.
The matter highlights gaps in existing policies concerning military personnel and could lead to a broader framework ensuring support for those injured while preparing to serve the nation.
