Kollywood and Tamil TV Stars Honoured at Upcoming Ceremony in Chennai on February 13
Chennai, Jan 30: The Tamil Nadu government has announced the State Film Awards for 2016–2022 and the State Television Awards for 2014–2022, recognising excellence across cinema and television. The awards celebrate standout performances, blockbuster films, and popular TV serials from the past decade.
The official ceremony will take place on February 13 at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai, where the Deputy Chief Minister will present the trophies to winners.
Film Awards Highlights (2016–2022)
2016: Maanagaram won Best Film (First Prize), Vijay Sethupathi and Keerthy Suresh bagged Best Actor and Actress awards.
2017: Aramm took Best Film, with Karthi and Nayanthara honoured for leading performances.
2018: Pariyerum Perumal won top honours; Dhanush and Jyothika were recognised for acting.
2019: Asuran was named Best Film, while R Parthiban and Manju Warrier won acting awards.
2020: Koozhangal received Best Film; Suriya and Aparna Balamurali were recognised for performances.
2021: Jai Bhim claimed Best Film, with Arya and Lijomol Jose winning Best Actor and Actress.
2022: Gargi took the top prize, with Vikram Prabhu and Sai Pallavi honoured in lead roles.
Other categories acknowledged supporting actors, villains, comedians, directors, music directors, lyricists, cinematographers, editors, art directors, and stunt coordinators, celebrating creative contributions across all technical and artistic facets of filmmaking.
Television Awards (2014–2022)
The State Television Awards recognised the best in Tamil TV serials, with top honours going to shows such as Azhagi, Romapuri Pandian, Ramanujar, Nandhini, Sembaruthi, Ethir Neechal, Raasathi, and Poove Poochudava. Leading female actors were also celebrated, including Radikaa Sarathkumar, Vani Bhojan, Neelima Rani, Sangavi, Revathi, Reshma, Shabana Shajahan, Gabriella Sullus, and Chaitra.
