Tamil Nadu Electoral Rolls: Correction Deadline Today, Final List on February 17

New Delhi, February 10 : Today is the final day for voters across Tamil Nadu to submit corrections, claims, and supporting documents for the state’s electoral rolls. This marks the conclusion of the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, which aims to ensure accurate and up to date voter records.

The deadline applies to all pending applications, including requests for inclusion, corrections to personal details, and responses to verification notices. Officials said all checks will be completed before the final electoral rolls are published on February 17, which will serve as the basis for upcoming state elections.

Cleaning Up the Voter Database
The revision is being conducted under the supervision of the Election Commission of India to remove errors such as duplicate, outdated, or ineligible entries. The final rolls are expected to list approximately 5.65 crore voters in Tamil Nadu.

The process began with the release of draft electoral rolls on December 19, following extensive field verification by booth-level officers. Voters were given time until January 30 to raise objections, submit corrections, or apply for inclusion, either online or at special camps organized in districts.

Public Response and Verification Notices
Nearly 34 lakh applications were received during the revision period, covering first-time voters, people who had changed residence, and those seeking corrections to names, addresses, or photographs. About 12 lakh entries required additional verification, with notices issued to ensure proof of identity and eligibility.

With the correction window closing today, election staff have intensified field visits and document collection to resolve all pending cases. Officials stressed that only eligible voters will appear in the final list.

Final Electoral Rolls to Be Released February 17
Once the Special Intensive Revision concludes, the final electoral rolls will be published on February 17. Voters are advised to check their details and report discrepancies immediately, as accurate rolls are essential for conducting free and fair elections.
