Tata Sons Chairman Chandrasekaran May Step Down Ahead of AGM

N Chandrasekaran has reportedly discussed the possibility of leaving the Tata Sons chairman post ahead of the company's August 18 annual general meeting.

NEW DELHI, Aug 12: Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran may consider stepping down from his position ahead of the company’s annual general meeting scheduled for August 18, according to a report.

Chandrasekaran has reportedly discussed the possibility of relinquishing the leadership role with close associates, although no formal decision has been announced so far.

The development comes ahead of the Tata group’s upcoming AGM, making any potential leadership change a closely watched issue for the conglomerate and its stakeholders.

Chandrasekaran has led Tata Sons since 2017 and has played a key role in shaping the group’s strategy across technology, automotive, infrastructure, consumer businesses and other sectors.

Any change at the top of Tata Sons would have significance for the wider Tata Group, given the holding company’s role in overseeing the conglomerate’s principal businesses.

As of Wednesday, there was no official confirmation that Chandrasekaran would step down. The reported possibility is therefore subject to further developments and any formal communication from Tata Sons.
