Jammu, 29-06-2024: General Body Meeting of Association of Industries (Regd.) Gangyal was held under the Chairmanship of S. Tejwant Singh Reen to discuss the present scenario of existing industries. The meeting was attended by a large number of member units and discussed threadbare the problems of existing industry.

At the outset President S. Tejwant Singh Reen thanked the member units for attending the Annual General Body Meeting and informed the worthy members regarding various meetings held with Hon’ble Lt. Governor, J&K UT, Chief Secretary, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce and Director, Industries & Commerce for resolution of various issues such as Turnover Incentive, issue of Substantial Expansion and marketing of manufactured goods by the industrial sector to Govt. departments.

As far as the Turnover Incentive is concerned, the Industrial Policy says that only a 50 crore budget will be available for this incentive that too if funds are available. Immediately after the issuance of Industrial Policy vide Govt. Order No. 127-IND of 2021 dated: 21.05.2021, the captains of the Industrial Sector met the then Commissioner Secretary, Industries & commerce with the request that the budget should be as per actual claims and he assured the representatives that to start with this incentive of 50 crore budget had been kept and in case the claims are higher, the budget will be increased as per actual claims. For the year 2021-22, the claims were submitted to the tune of 176 crores from the Jammu Division and 30 crores from the Kashmir Division i.e. a total of 206 crores. Association of Industries (Regd.) Gangyal has requested the concerned quarters that the budget may be enhanced and payment may be made as per actual claims. Regarding Substantial Expansion, President informed the members that the issue was discussed with all the concerned officers including Hon’ble Lt. Governor J&K UT. Association of Industries has urged the Lt. Governor’s administration to fulfill our demand regarding the Substantial Expansion and all incentives may be provided to the unit holders going for substantial expansion as per the Industrial Policy issued vide Govt. Order No. 117-Ind of 2021 dated: 19.04.2021.

Regarding the procurement of industrially manufactured products by the Govt. Departments, president informed the members that this issue was also discussed with all concerned quarters including the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, J&K UT. Govt. is procuring all the requirements of various Govt. Departments from GeM. The association requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor and Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce to resolve this issue as nearly 25% to 30% of Industries were running their units by selling their products to various Govt. Departments through SICOP are at the verge of closure as these units cannot compete with their rates on GeM.

President informed the members that we feel the Govt. is not interested in resolving these burning issues for reasons best known to them. The Govt. is only working hard to establish new industrial units under the New Central Sector Scheme 2021.

Many member units raised the issue of the bad condition of roads in the industrial area, Gangyal. President informed the members that this issue was taken up with the Managing Director, Sicop many times and he assured the Association that roads would be repaired. The president informed the members that the issue would be again taken up with the Sicop management.

The president thanked all the members for their active participation and constructive contribution and encouraged continued collaboration to drive the organization forward. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chair and affirmation of the Association’s commitment to its mission and objectives. The meeting was also attended by Vice President Sh.
