Three-Day Assembly Session in J&K UT Ends Without Any Productive Business, Disappointment for the People: Rakesh Kumar Koul

Jammu,10-04-2025: The recently concluded three-day Assembly session of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory has ended in disappointment, as no productive legislative business was conducted. The people of the UT, who looked forward to critical discussions on their day-to-day issues, were once again left disheartened by the non-serious approach displayed during the session.
It is alarming that key concerns of the public—particularly the demands of daily wagers, SPOs (Special Police Officers), contractual employees, and other working-class sections—were ignored. These are individuals who have been relentlessly serving the system for years without job security, fair wages, or timely support.
As a former Sarpanch and committed social activist, I, Rakesh Kumar Koul, express my deep concern and dismay over this legislative inaction. The session should have served as a platform to bring relief to those who have long awaited justice, recognition, and regularization of their services.
Such behavior from our lawmakers is unacceptable and goes against the spirit of democracy. The Assembly is meant to be a house of debate, policy, and public welfare—not a stage for symbolic presence without action. When elected representatives ignore the cries of the people, it reflects poorly on the integrity and intent of governance.
I strongly urge the Hon’ble Speaker of the House, the Hon’ble Chief Minister, and all their respected colleagues to treat these matters with the seriousness they deserve. The public’s patience is wearing thin, and democracy loses its value when leaders fail to stand for those they represent.
The people of Jammu and Kashmir are not asking for favors but for their basic rights, dignity, and a secure future. It is high time their voices are heard, respected, and acted upon with genuine commitment.
