Tony denounces BJP’s Women Reservation Bill as empty political rhetoric
Hundreds of BJP youths join Congress
JAMMU, September 21: Taranjit Singh Tony, a Congress leader and District Development Council (DDC) Member representing Suchetgarh, has criticized the recent passage of the Women Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha by the BJP government at the Centre, dismissing it as a mere political gimmick.
He was speaking to youth who the joined the Congress Party by leaving BJP, in a function held here today. Nearly hundred of youth joined the party fold in presence of Taranjit Singh Tony.
In a press release issued here today, Tony expressed his skepticism regarding the intentions behind the Women Reservation Bill, stating that it appears to be a calculated move by the government to gain support from women voters ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, he voiced his doubts about the Bill’s actual implementation in the forthcoming polls. He asserted that the BJP government is not going to implement this Bill in 2024 polls, asking the Modi government about its move to introducing the Bill just before Lok Sabha polls.
Tony characterized the Women Reservation Bill as a vague commitment, citing the government’s conditional promise to implement it in the next delimitation process. He emphasized that the timeline for this implementation remains unclear, leading him to label it as nothing more than a political tactic designed to secure votes from women across India.
Tony accused the BJP Govt of trying to befool the people of the nation by creating false narratives that all the schemes including those pertaining to social security are BJP’s creation. He challenged the saffron party leaders to turn over the pages of history and see for themselves that every such scheme has been conceptualized and rolled out during the Congress regimes at the Centre.
The Congress leader said that BJP is habitual liar and thinks that it can always befool the people by taking credit of schemes and policies initiated during the Congress regime but it is living in a fool’s paradise. He said the people across the nation are wise enough today and can see through the deceitful game plan of BJP which has done nothing for the people all these nine years except betraying them.
Tony said that the people are already fed up of the BJP’s misrule and are waiting for the coming elections to teach it a lesson by shattering its dream of coming to power for the third consecutive term.
