Tony urges Centre to hold Assembly Elections along with Parliamentary Elections in J&K

JAMMU, July 28: Taranjit Singh Tony, Chairman of AAP Jammu and Kashmir for Administrative Engagement and Minority Affairs and DDC Member of Suchetgarh, has urged the government at the centre to hold assembly elections along with Parliamentary elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued today, the senior AAP leader expressed his concern over the delay in holding elections and highlighted the possible motives behind it. “The Government of India delaying elections to encourage more loot hatched by the big sharks of bureaucracy, be it mining, liquor, or calling contractors from outside the state under various pretexts,” said Tony.

The senior AAP leader further emphasized the rising unemployment in the region, stating that more than 8 lakh youth in Jammu and Kashmir are unemployed, and yet the government is not taking the issue seriously. He also pointed out that the region is currently experiencing the highest inflation in the country, which is a result of so-called bureaucrats who are wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Tony highlighted that the Lt. Government has given a clear signal that the Election Commission of India (ECI) can take a call on holding Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and the Election Commission cannot run away from holding elections.

In light of these concerns, AAP Jammu and Kashmir is urging the government at the centre to take immediate action and hold assembly elections along with Parliamentary elections in Jammu and Kashmir. This will not only address the issue of rising unemployment and inflation but also ensure a fair and democratic representation for the people of the region, he added.
