Tony urges CM Omar for Zero Tolerance in recruitment scams

Seeks accountability in recruitment process

Jammu, May 23: Senior Congress leader and DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony, today welcomed the firm directives issued by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) for ensuring a transparent, time-bound, and fair recruitment process. He said the move has rekindled hope among thousands of qualified youth in the Union Territory, who had lost faith in the system due to the rampant recruitment scams and paper leak controversies that marred the previous BJP regime.

“Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s commitment to transparent governance and institutional accountability is a breath of fresh air. The introduction of CCTV surveillance for all future examinations is a commendable step that will deter malpractice and restore trust in the system,” Tony said in a statement issued here today.

However, the Congress leader emphasized the need to go beyond procedural reforms. “While transparency is essential, fixing accountability is equally critical. There must be strict penalties for any official involved in paper leaks or manipulation, including immediate termination of service and potential criminal proceedings,” Tony asserted.

Referring to the delays in Class IV recruitment, Tony urged the government to implement fast-track mechanisms and clear all procedural bottlenecks. “Youth in Jammu and Kashmir cannot afford to wait indefinitely. Every delay is a lost opportunity for an aspiring candidate,” he said.

Tony also backed CM Omar Abdullah’s direction to strengthen JKSSB’s legal and administrative framework, improve infrastructure, and ensure efficient functioning of the recruitment body. “Such structural reforms are crucial to prevent the recurrence of past recruitment scams, and to instill faith among job seekers,” he added.
