Tremors Felt in West Bengal Following 5.7-Magnitude Quake in Bangladesh

Residents of Kolkata and other districts step out as precaution, no casualties or damage reported.

KOLKATA, Nov 21: Tremors were felt across several parts of South Bengal, including Kolkata, on Friday morning, following a 5.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Bangladesh’s Narsingdi district, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported.

The earthquake occurred at 10:08 a.m. local time, 13 km south-southwest of Narsingdi, at a depth of 10 km. Residents in Kolkata and nearby districts were seen coming out on the streets as a precautionary measure.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage in West Bengal or Bangladesh. Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
