Trump Addresses Nation on Gaza Conflict, Tariffs, and ‘Warrior Dividend’ for Soldiers
President claims end to Gaza war, historic Middle East peace, economic gains, and announces one-time payout for US military ahead of Christmas
Washington, Dec 18: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday delivered a nationally televised address highlighting his administration’s record on foreign policy, economic revival, and military welfare, making sweeping claims on international conflicts, investment inflows, and a one-time payout for American troops ahead of Christmas.
Trump asserted that the US had regained global strength, neutralised major security threats, and attracted unprecedented investment back into the country, crediting his trade and tariff policies for much of the economic success.
Claims on Gaza War and Middle East Peace
In his address, Trump said his administration had “settled eight wars in 10 months” and “destroyed the Iran nuclear threat,” claiming that the war in Gaza had ended under his leadership. He also described a historic breakthrough, stating that his actions had brought “for the first time in 3,000 years peace to the Middle East” and secured the release of hostages held during the conflict, “both living and the dead.”
“I restored American strength, settled 8 wars in 10 months, destroyed the Iran nuclear threat and ended the war in Gaza bringing for the first time in 3000 years’ peace to the Middle East and secured the release of the hostages, both living and the dead,” Trump said.
$18 Trillion Investment Linked to Tariffs
On the economic front, Trump claimed that his administration had secured a record breaking USD 18 trillion in investment commitments to the US, tying the inflows to his aggressive tariff regime.
“Much of this success has been accomplished by tariffs; my favourite word tariffs,” he said, arguing that firms were shifting manufacturing back to the US to avoid trade penalties. He added that these investments would create jobs, open factories, boost wages, and strengthen national security.
‘Warrior Dividend’ for US Troops
Trump announced a one-time “special warrior dividend” for military personnel ahead of Christmas, with more than 1.45 million service members set to receive USD 1,776 each a figure referencing the year of America’s founding.
“In honour of our nation’s founding in 1776, we are sending every soldier $1,776,” he said.
The address emphasised Trump’s narrative of national strength, economic nationalism, and assertive foreign policy, framing his achievements as historic milestones for the United States.
