Trump Announces ‘Historic’ Gaza Peace Deal, Calls It a Monumental Step Toward Lasting Peace

US, July 31 : US President Donald Trump has announced what he described as a landmark breakthrough in efforts to end the Gaza conflict, revealing that the newly established Board of Peace has approved a phased agreement aimed at dismantling armed groups, facilitating the withdrawal of Israeli forces and creating a new Palestinian administration.

Sharing the announcement on his Truth Social platform late Thursday, Trump called the development a “monumental step toward lasting peace and security,” saying it represents a major milestone in the implementation of his broader vision for the region.

Phased roadmap for Gaza

According to Trump, the agreement outlines a carefully sequenced process that begins with the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed organisations operating in Gaza. Once this phase is completed, Israeli forces would gradually withdraw from the territory.

An International Stabilization Force, working alongside a newly created Palestinian police force, would then assume responsibility for maintaining security, ensuring stability for both Gaza’s residents and neighbouring regions.

Trump said the arrangement is designed to establish long-term peace by replacing armed control with civilian governance and internationally supported security mechanisms.

New Palestinian administration proposed

The US President stated that the agreement would ultimately place Gaza under the leadership of a newly formed Palestinian government that would focus on serving the interests of its people.

He added that the incoming administration would work in coordination with the Board of Peace to oversee reconstruction, governance and regional stability while laying the foundation for future development.

Praise for mediators

Trump acknowledged the diplomatic efforts of Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye, crediting them for helping facilitate negotiations that led to the agreement.

He also praised members of his administration, saying their sustained engagement and behind-the-scenes diplomacy played a crucial role in achieving what he described as a historic breakthrough.

Security focus

Referring to the October 7 attack on Israel, Trump said the new framework is intended to ensure that Gaza cannot again become a source of security threats.

He noted that the region had experienced a year marked by conflict, humanitarian suffering and hostage crises, but argued that significant progress had been made despite the challenges. While welcoming the latest development, he acknowledged that further work remains before lasting peace can be secured.

Board of Peace initiative

The announcement follows the launch of the Board of Peace, an international conflict mediation body introduced by Trump during the World Economic Forum in Davos. Initially conceived as part of a Gaza ceasefire proposal, the initiative later expanded into a broader platform for addressing global conflicts.

The board is chaired by Trump and includes senior US officials and international figures on its executive panel, among them Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and Jared Kushner.

Trump has previously said that around 35 countries agreed to participate in the initiative, although several key US allies, including France, the United Kingdom and Germany, have voiced reservations regarding its mandate and how it may interact with existing international institutions.

Concluding his announcement, Trump described the agreement as an unprecedented diplomatic achievement, saying it had accomplished what many believed was impossible and expressing optimism that the framework could become the basis for lasting peace in Gaza.
