Trump Reaffirms Strong India Ties After Key White House Meeting, Says Envoy Sergio Gor
US Ambassador Sergio Gor highlights President’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties amid ongoing diplomatic engagement
Washington: United States President Donald Trump has reiterated his strong commitment to maintaining and enhancing ties with India, according to US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor following a meeting at the White House.
Gor shared details of his interaction on social media platform X, posting a photograph alongside President Trump and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the Oval Office. He described the meeting as productive and underscored the President’s keen interest in strengthening relations between the two nations.
“Back in the US for a few days. First stop, meeting with our GREAT President in the White House. The President deeply cares about the relationship between the US and India,” Gor wrote.
Having assumed office earlier this year, Gor also holds the additional responsibility of Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs. His remarks come at a time when both Washington and New Delhi continue to prioritise strategic cooperation across multiple sectors.
Earlier statements from the US side also reflected a positive outlook on bilateral engagement, with President Trump praising Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and describing their partnership as effective and results-driven.
Trump had noted that relations between the two countries are expected to grow stronger, emphasising mutual cooperation and leadership synergy.
Recent discussions between the two leaders reportedly included key regional concerns, particularly developments in West Asia and the importance of ensuring stability in critical maritime routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, along with efforts to reduce tensions in the region.
