‘Truth Prevails’: Congress Hails Delhi Court Order Declaring ED Case Against Sonia, Rahul Gandhi Illegal

Party says verdict exposes “politically motivated” probe in National Herald–Young Indian case

New Delhi, Dec 16 : The Congress party on Tuesday welcomed a Delhi court ruling that declared the Enforcement Directorate’s proceedings against party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald–Young Indian case as “illegal and malafide.” The party described the verdict as a major vindication after what it called a decade-long political witch hunt.

In a statement, Congress said the court found that the ED lacked jurisdiction to pursue the case and noted that no FIR had been registered, effectively rendering the proceedings legally untenable. The party accused the Modi government of using investigative agencies to target the principal opposition.

“This politically motivated prosecution by the Modi government over the last decade stands exposed before the people of India,” the Congress said. It added that there was “no case of money laundering, no proceeds of crime, and no movement of property,” calling the allegations a campaign of propaganda and reputational damage.

Reaffirming its stance, the party said it would continue to fight for truth and constitutional values. “We cannot and will not be intimidated because we fight for the truth. Satyamev Jayate,” the statement posted on X read.

The ruling, delivered by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court, held that the ED’s case in the National Herald/Young Indian matter was without jurisdiction and legally unsustainable, a development the Congress termed a significant victory for truth and the rule of law.
