TVK Founder Vijay Assumes Office as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister
Massive celebrations erupt in Chennai as the actor turned politician begins a new chapter in Tamil Nadu politics with his newly formed cabinet.
Tamil Nadu, May 10 : Tamil Nadu entered a new political phase on Sunday as TVK founder and Legislature Party leader Vijay officially assumed office as the state’s Chief Minister during a grand swearing in ceremony held at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office and secrecy before a packed gathering that included political leaders, supporters, film personalities and party workers. The atmosphere turned festive as thousands of TVK supporters filled the venue with loud cheers and celebratory whistles while welcoming their leader to the top post.
Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was among the prominent guests present at the ceremony, highlighting the significance of the occasion in national politics as well.
Taking oath in the name of God, Vijay marked a symbolic departure from the traditions followed by many members of the previous administration. Members of the newly formed cabinet also followed the same format during the ceremony.
Several prominent TVK leaders joined the new ministry, including Aadhav Arjuna, N Anand and KA Sengottaiyan, who were sworn in as ministers in the Vijay-led government.
The event witnessed heavy security arrangements and drew huge crowds outside the stadium, with supporters waving party flags and celebrating what many described as a historic political transformation in the state. Analysts believe the new administration will now face the challenge of converting public enthusiasm into governance and fulfilling major election promises.
