Two Killed After Truck Falls Into Gorge, Bursts Into Flames on NH-44 in Ramban
Victims charred beyond recognition as rescue teams recover bodies from burnt vehicle near Gangroo in Ramsoo area.
Ramban, May 30: Two persons lost their lives in a tragic road accident after a truck plunged into a deep gorge and caught fire near Gangroo in the Ramsoo area of Ramban district on Saturday.
According to officials, the vehicle was travelling along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the truck to veer off the roadway and tumble into a gorge. Moments after the crash, the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Emergency responders, police personnel and local residents rushed to the site and launched rescue efforts. Following several hours of operation, firefighters managed to contain the blaze, allowing rescuers to access the wreckage.
During the search operation, two charred bodies were recovered from the remains of the truck. Authorities believe the deceased were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Their identities, however, could not be immediately established.
Police have registered the case and initiated investigations to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal mishap.
The incident adds to a series of road accidents reported from the mountainous stretches of NH-44, where difficult terrain and challenging driving conditions continue to pose risks for commuters and transport operators.
