Two Newly Elected MPs Take Oath as Rajya Sabha Members
Congress’ Mansoor Ali Khan and BJP’s Rajneesh Kumar Agrawal formally begin their Rajya Sabha tenure after oath ceremony in Parliament
New Delhi, July 15: The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday welcomed two new members as newly elected lawmakers Mansoor Ali Khan and Rajneesh Kumar Agrawal officially took oath as Members of Parliament in the Upper House.
The oath ceremony was conducted by Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan in the presence of Deputy Chairman Harivansh and Rajya Sabha Secretary General P C Mody. The induction of the two members marks the beginning of their legislative responsibilities in the Upper House.
Congress leader Mansoor Ali Khan, who was elected from Karnataka, took the oath in English, formally assuming his role as a Rajya Sabha member. Khan’s entry into Parliament adds another representative from Karnataka to the Upper House and strengthens the Congress presence in the state’s parliamentary representation.
Meanwhile, Rajneesh Kumar Agrawal, a leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took oath as a Rajya Sabha member after being elected from Madhya Pradesh. Agrawal administered his oath in Hindi, reflecting the diversity of languages used during parliamentary proceedings.
The Rajya Sabha, which plays a key role in India’s legislative process, regularly sees new members joining after elections or bypolls. Newly inducted members are expected to contribute to parliamentary debates, committee discussions, and policy-making initiatives during their tenure.
The oath-taking ceremony was completed smoothly, with both lawmakers officially becoming part of the Upper House and preparing to participate in upcoming parliamentary proceedings.
