UGC-NET June 2026 Re-Exam Underway for Three Subjects
NTA is conducting fresh tests for English, Commerce and Sociology after an expert panel flagged errors and repeated questions in the original papers.
NEW DELHI, Sept 10: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the UGC-NET June 2026 re-examination for three subjects following concerns over errors and repeated questions in the original question papers.
The re-examination began on September 9 with the English and Commerce papers, while the Sociology paper is scheduled for September 10. The affected candidates were issued fresh admit cards and examination-related instructions through the official NTA portal.
The decision to hold the fresh examination followed an assessment by an expert committee, which identified factual, typographical, translation and language related errors in the question papers. The panel also flagged repetition of questions from earlier examinations.
The agency has maintained that the re-examination is intended to ensure fairness and provide candidates with an equitable opportunity to appear for the affected papers.
Candidates appearing at examination centres in Delhi were separately advised to plan their journeys in advance because of traffic restrictions and diversions in the national capital. The NTA asked examinees to check their routes beforehand, leave early and keep sufficient time in hand to reach their centres.
The official UGC-NET portal lists the September 9 and 10 re-examination notices, including the release of admit cards and the advisory issued for candidates appearing at centres in Delhi.
The re-test has also been the subject of legal proceedings. The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the NTA and the Centre on a plea challenging the decision to reconduct the examination, with issues concerning the process and examination fees raised before the court.
The fresh examination is being closely watched by candidates seeking eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship, assistant professorship and PhD admissions, for which the national eligibility test serves as an important qualification route.
