UN Warns Of Deepening Humanitarian Crisis In Gaza Amid Ongoing Conflict

Aid agencies struggle to deliver relief as shortages worsen across war affected areas

GENEVA, May 28: The United Nations warned on Thursday that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is deteriorating rapidly as aid agencies continue facing major challenges in delivering food, medicine, and emergency supplies to civilians affected by the conflict.

UN officials said overcrowded shelters, damaged hospitals, and shortages of essential supplies have placed immense pressure on humanitarian operations. Thousands of families remain displaced amid continuing insecurity.

Relief agencies appealed for immediate international support and unrestricted humanitarian access to affected communities.

Medical workers reported severe shortages of medicines, fuel, and surgical equipment in several healthcare facilities. Humanitarian organisations also warned about rising risks of disease outbreaks due to damaged sanitation systems and limited clean water availability.

International diplomatic efforts aimed at securing ceasefires and humanitarian pauses have continued, though progress remains limited.

Several countries called for stronger protection of civilians and stressed the importance of ensuring safe access for aid deliveries.

The conflict has caused widespread destruction to homes, schools, roads, and public infrastructure, leaving many residents dependent on humanitarian assistance for survival.

Global humanitarian agencies warned that conditions could worsen further if fighting continues without significant diplomatic breakthroughs.
