Cabinet decisions aim to boost justice delivery, higher education, and sustainable governance

UP, Oct 29 : Reaffirming its commitment to governance reform and institutional strengthening, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved a series of major decisions to enhance justice delivery, education access, and environmental governance.
In a key move, the state Cabinet has approved 274 new posts in the Judicial Department, underscoring Uttar Pradesh’s leadership in strengthening India’s justice infrastructure. The newly created administrative, officer, and support level positions aim to accelerate case disposal, improve efficiency, and expand citizen access to justice.
The decisions, approved through a Cabinet by-circulation on Tuesday night, mark another milestone in UP’s drive toward responsive and transparent governance.
In another significant move, the government approved the establishment of a new state university in Bhadohi, aimed at expanding higher education opportunities in underserved regions. The decision aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, promoting inclusive education and skill development for youth.
Recognising the growing urgency of climate resilience, the Cabinet also approved the creation of a Directorate of Environment and Climate Change  among the first at the state level in India. The new directorate will spearhead policy and coordination on sustainable development, environmental conservation, and climate adaptation, supporting India’s national and global climate commitments.
The state also authorised UPDESCO to deploy and manage e-pump machines for wheat and paddy procurement, streamlining agricultural operations and ensuring fair, transparent procurement for farmers across the state.
In a progressive administrative reform, the government expanded the eligibility criteria for District Programme Officers (DPOs) in the Child Development and Nutrition Department to include graduates in Sociology, Economics, and Psychology  encouraging an interdisciplinary approach to public welfare.
Together, these reforms reinforce Uttar Pradesh’s growing reputation as a leader in judicial modernization, sustainable development, and inclusive governance.
