US-India Commercial Ties Get Boost as Sergio Gor Meets Commerce Secretary
Talks focus on AI collaboration, pharma investments, and strengthening bilateral security coordination
Washington DC: Sergio Gor held a series of high-level meetings in Washington, advancing discussions on the India-US commercial roadmap and broader strategic cooperation.
During his meeting with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, Gor explored opportunities to deepen economic engagement between New Delhi and Washington. Key areas of discussion included expanding collaboration in Artificial Intelligence, encouraging greater Indian participation in the upcoming Select USA Summit, and boosting Indian pharmaceutical investments in the United States to enhance supply chains and competitiveness.
In a post on X, Gor described the meeting as productive, highlighting efforts to connect India’s AI capabilities with the American ecosystem through a proposed memorandum of understanding.
Earlier, Gor met Kash Patel to discuss joint efforts to tackle transnational threats such as cybercrime, narcotics trafficking, and illicit networks. The two sides expressed strong alignment on security priorities, underlining the importance of coordinated action in addressing global challenges.
As part of his visit, Gor also interacted with US Vice President JD Vance, where discussions centred on strengthening bilateral relations. He appreciated the continued focus on India-US ties and reaffirmed the administration’s engagement in the region.
Separately, India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra met Gor and reviewed ongoing efforts to further enhance strategic cooperation. Both diplomats emphasized their commitment to achieving shared goals set by the leadership of the two nations, reflecting the growing depth of India-US relations.
