Uttar Pradesh’s Tech-Driven Growth, AI and Deep Tech at the Core of Transformation
State government unveils roadmap to transform UP into a global technology hub by 2047
Uttar Pradesh, Sep 12 : Uttar Pradesh is setting its sights on becoming a global technology powerhouse, with Artificial Intelligence (AI), deep tech, and digital innovation at the core of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ambitious “Viksit UP @2047” vision.
The plan seeks to accelerate economic growth, empower youth, and position the state as a leader in next-generation technologies. From AI and quantum computing to green and space tech, the roadmap is designed to propel Uttar Pradesh onto the global stage of innovation.
In education, the transformation is already evident. Before 2017, only 13.3% of schools had computers; today, that number has risen to 40.2%. More than 25,000 council schools are equipped with smart classes, 880 block resource centres have ICT labs, and 2.61 lakh tablets have been distributed to teachers. Additionally, over 50 lakh youths have received tablets and smartphones under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme, with a target to benefit 2 crore.
Looking ahead, the government plans to establish AI cities in Lucknow and Kanpur, expand semiconductor and EV manufacturing hubs, build global data centres, and create cybersecurity and innovation incubation hubs across the state. NCR, Noida, and Lucknow will be developed as prime Global Capability Centre (GCC) destinations.
The long-term vision includes advancing research in AI, quantum computing, blockchain, biotechnology, robotics, nanotechnology, space exploration, and sustainable green technologies. The government expects these initiatives to not only attract investment but also generate jobs and ensure globally competitive skills for UP’s youth.
“Artificial intelligence, deep technology, and emerging sectors will be the driving force behind our USD 6 trillion economy goal. This vision will create vast opportunities for investment, jobs, and skills while sustaining 16% annual GDP growth,” CM Adityanath stated recently.
By 2047, Uttar Pradesh aspires to achieve global recognition as a deep tech leader, driving India’s digital revolution and powering the nation’s economic future.
