Veteran Actor Mushtaq Khan Dies at 75
The veteran performer, who appeared in more than 500 films across a five-decade career, passed away at a Mumbai hospital, his son said.
MUMBAI, Sep 24: Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, who appeared in more than 500 films and was widely recognised for his supporting and character roles, died on Thursday at the age of 75, his son Mohsin said.
Khan had been undergoing treatment at Nanavati Hospital in suburban Mumbai for nearly two weeks after complaining of stomach pain. Doctors subsequently diagnosed him with cancer, and his condition deteriorated over the past few days, according to his son.
“He passed away due to cancer at Nanavati hospital at around 7pm,” Mohsin told PTI.
The actor had remained active professionally until shortly before his hospitalisation. His son said Khan had been shooting for the debut film of the son of Shera, actor Salman Khan’s bodyguard, before his health declined.
Khan’s career in Hindi cinema spanned around five decades. He became a familiar face among audiences through a wide range of character and supporting roles in films including “Aashiqui”, “Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin”, “Saathi”, “Sadak”, “Junoon”, “Gunaah”, “Sir”, “Gadar”, “Welcome” and “Gadar 2”.
Known for bringing distinctive characters to the screen, Khan worked across several genres and built a lasting presence in mainstream Hindi cinema through his extensive body of work.
His funeral will be held on Friday. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
