Viksit Bharat Vision Needs Unified Effort of 1.4 Billion Citizens Amid Global Challenges: PM Modi
Prime Minister highlights national priorities while inaugurating Noida International Airport, stresses economic growth and citizen welfare
Noida, Mar 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called for unity and collective resolve among citizens to navigate global uncertainties, asserting that achieving the vision of a developed India requires the combined effort of 1.4 billion people.
Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, he underscored the importance of prioritising national interests, especially amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia. He said India is taking comprehensive steps to shield its citizens, particularly families and farmers, from the economic impact of global disruptions.
The Prime Minister urged people to face challenges with patience and solidarity, noting that while the crisis is global, India’s strength lies in its unity. He also appealed to political parties to avoid irresponsible statements that could harm national interests during sensitive times.
Highlighting the significance of the newly inaugurated airport, Modi described it as a milestone in the journey towards a developed Uttar Pradesh and a developed India. He said the project would boost economic activity, generate employment, and create new opportunities for farmers, traders, and youth in the region.
He emphasised the government’s focus on improving infrastructure and enhancing ease of travel, citing initiatives like the UDAN scheme, which has made air travel more affordable for millions. The scheme has been expanded with significant investment to develop new airports and helipads across the country.
Modi also pointed to the rapid growth of India’s aviation sector, noting rising demand for aircraft and the expansion of training and maintenance facilities. He highlighted efforts to make India self-reliant in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services, which are expected to create jobs and boost revenue.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, he said investments in highways, expressways, and modern transport systems have increased substantially over the past decade, reducing travel time and improving connectivity nationwide.
The first phase of the Noida International Airport project, developed at an estimated cost of ₹11,200 crore, is designed as a multi modal transport hub with extensive connectivity options. It will initially handle 12 million passengers annually, with scalability for future expansion.
