‘Vilayath Buddha’ Day 14 Box Office: Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Film Drops to Rs 4 Lakh
Action drama struggles to recover as second-week collections continue to fall; cyberattack controversy adds to woes
South India, Dec 05 : ‘Vilayath Buddha’, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, continues to witness a sharp decline at the box office, with day 14 collections dipping to Rs 4 lakh. The actioner, directed by Jayan Nambiar, shows no signs of recovery, reflecting mixed audience reception despite a star studded cast including Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anu Mohan, Shammi Thilakan, Rajashree, and Priyamvada Krishnan.
According to industry estimates on Sacnilk, the film’s worldwide total now stands at Rs 8.63 crore, including Rs 5.18 crore India Net, Rs 6.03 crore India Gross, and Rs 2.6 crore overseas. The second week has been particularly weak: Day 11 earned Rs 8 lakh, Day 12 Rs 6 lakh, Day 13 Rs 5 lakh, and Day 14 Rs 4 lakh.
Cyberattack Controversy
The film’s producer, Sandeep Senan, filed a police complaint at Ernakulam North Police Station alleging targeted cyberattacks. He accused a YouTube reviewer of spreading religious and political hatred, misrepresenting the film’s storyline, and making personal attacks on Prithviraj, which fueled online hostility and social polarization.
Despite the initial hype, the film failed to resonate with audiences, receiving predominantly average to mixed reviews, leaving its box office trajectory in a slump.
