RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 20: District Administration Rajouri along with the PMGSY Department has been taking effective measures for the repair and renovation of the PMGSY roads to facilitate commuters.
Public has hailed prompt response and intervention by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal for necessary repair of a Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna road which was in dilapidated condition just in two years of its construction. The road under question was Mubarakpur Tandwal to Sohana Gali road via Mankote and Palullian.
Locals said that the road was inaugurated in 2019-20 after blacktopping but due to poor work, blockage of drains and due to non maintenance by executive agency, the road developed potholes and was in dilapidated condition.
The matter was taken up with Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal and Executive Engineer PMGSY, Subash Chander. On the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner and Executive Engineer PMGSY, the work for necessary maintenance and repair of the road was started a few days ago and the work along the stretch is on for filling potholes and clearing blocked drains.
People from the area including Sarpanch Tundi Trar Yogesh Sharma, PRIs including Khadam Hussain, Manoj Sharma, senior citizens Subash Chander, Bhushan Sharma, Mohammad Jamsheed, Ashaq Chowdhary have hailed the start of much required repair work on the road.
They further appealed to the District Administration Rajouri and PMGSY Department to ensure renovation of damaged stretches of the road from Tandwal Bridge to Palullian Bus Stand and its extension from Behari Lal Chowk to Mankote Middle School.
They also said that over ten link roads originate from this road connecting a population of over six thousand people of Mubarakh Pura, Mankote, Ninga Nar, Sadhyal, Khankhari, Palullian, Keriyan, Namblan and Sohana Samyan including staff and students of over one dozen government schools, two health institutions and other government institutions, besides being of immense importance for defence purposes.
The villagers also appealed to the PMGSY department to ensure enforcement of the road maintenance period clause by the contractors to keep the roads in good condition.
