VP Radhakrishnan Takes Scenic Shikara Ride on Srinagar’s Dal Lake

Srinagar’s iconic waterway offers a glimpse of the Valley’s charm and progress

SRINAGAR, Feb 26: Vice President C P Radhakrishnan on Thursday took a shikara ride on the famous Dal Lake, calling it a showcase of Srinagar’s timeless beauty and natural allure. The visit marked his first trip to the Kashmir Valley, ahead of the University of Kashmir’s 21st convocation later in the day.

Sharing his experience on X, Radhakrishnan wrote, “I experienced the timeless charm, pristine waters, and breathtaking natural beauty of Srinagar during a morning cruise on Dal Lake today.”

The Vice President expressed admiration for the ongoing transformation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly highlighting improved infrastructure, better connectivity, and eco-tourism initiatives.

“I appreciate the administration’s efforts in preserving natural heritage, promoting sustainable tourism, and creating new livelihood opportunities for local communities,” he said, noting that these measures have not only strengthened tourism but also heralded a “new era of peace, progress, and prosperity” in the region.
