05/08/2023 : To create awareness about Organ Donation, IQAC Cell of Dogra Degree College today organized a seminar on “Angdaan Se Jeevan Dan” (Deceased Organ Donation programme) here at Dogra Degree College to mark World Organ Donation Day. During this event, More than 50 Students filled the registration form and pledged their organs. An awareness program was held in the Conference room of Dogra Degree College. Ms Anshu Sharma, Consultant Information, Education and Communication/ Media at State organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) J&K was formally welcomed by Ms Aditi Khajuria.
Ms Anshu Sharma, Consultant Information, Education and Communication/ Media at State organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) J&K was the Chief Guest on the occasion and threw light on various myths regarding organ donation, brain stem death, status of SOTTO, types of donors etc. in an attempt to create awareness. She informed the gathering about how and where to pledge organs and also made an appeal to take pledge on this occasion.
Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal Dogra Degree College, while addressing the gathering, said that Organ Donation is the way to live twice. She motivated the gathering to come forward and pledge organs. She also stressed on the need for organizing more such events in our Institution to improve organ donation rates. Finally, she thanked all the audience coming together to build an organ donation. She specifically thanked Ms. Anshu Sharma. The ceremony was closed with a vote of thanks by Manya Bhardwaj, Student, B.A, 2nd Year. Events like this promote organ donation in our institution which is the need of the hour.
Dr Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Prof. Darshana Sharma, Director Dogra Group of Colleges and Campus Development appreciated the initiative taken by Dogra Degree College for organizing the event. All the Faculty members and students were present during the occasion. The programme finally winded up with playing the National Anthem.
