Yogi Adityanath Launches ‘Mission Shakti 5.0’ to Empower Women in Uttar Pradesh
Mission Shakti Centres Rolled Out Across 1,647 Police Stations; Focus on Women’s Self-Reliance and Enhanced Representation
Uttar Pradesh, Sep 20 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday inaugurated the fifth phase of the ambitious “Mission Shakti-5.0” campaign, aimed at promoting women’s safety, dignity, and self-reliance across the state.
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi said, “While daughters were once unsafe, today they are confidently forging their own path,” highlighting that women’s respect remains a top priority for his government. He added, “When the government’s intentions are clear, schemes naturally find their way.”
As part of the launch, Mission Shakti Centres were activated in all 1,647 police stations across Uttar Pradesh. CM Yogi released the centers’ standard operating procedure manuals, informational booklets, and the “Sashakt Nari, Samradh Pradesh” folder, with ministers and officials joining the event via video conferencing.
Recalling the campaign’s journey since its inception in 2020, the Chief Minister noted that Mission Shakti has successfully empowered women, offering them safety, respect, and independence. He emphasized the expansion of women’s representation in the police force—from just 10,000 personnel before 2017 to over 44,000 today with a mandatory 20% quota in all recruitments. In the recent induction of 60,200 police personnel, more than 12,000 women joined and are currently receiving training.
CM Yogi highlighted the growth of police training capacity, which has risen from 3,000 trainees before 2017 to over 60,000, and underscored that women’s recruitment is being encouraged across other government departments as well.
Focusing on education, he pointed out that over 16 million children are now enrolled under the Basic Education Council. “Before 2017, 70–75% of girls attended school barefoot and in worn out clothes,” he said, underlining the state government’s efforts to improve school infrastructure and promote female education.
With Mission Shakti-5.0, Uttar Pradesh aims to further strengthen women’s empowerment through safety initiatives, skill development, and wider participation in governance and public services.
