Young Scholars Bring Warmth and Compassion to Vridh Ashram Residents in Jammu

Jammu, October 13, 2025: In a touching display of compassion and community spirit, a group of young scholars from Cluster University, Jammu, visited the Home for the Aged and Infirm (Vridh Ashram) at Ambphalla under the guidance of Prof. Jeevan Jyoti and Prof. Tarsem Lal. The students distributed thermal warmers, socks, and essential grocery items to the elderly residents, filling the home with smiles and heartfelt gratitude.

Shri R.C. Vaid, Member of the Managing Committee, extended a warm welcome to the visiting team and lauded their initiative, describing it as a meaningful act of kindness that bridges generations. He encouraged the scholars to continue engaging in such humanitarian activities, emphasizing that regular interaction between the youth and the elderly fosters a deeper sense of empathy and shared humanity.

Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary of the Home, expressed appreciation for the students’ gesture and provided an overview of the ongoing welfare programs and facilities at the institution. He urged the visitors to act as “Ambassadors of the Home,” helping to identify senior citizens who live alone or without family support so they can be provided with the safety, comfort, and dignity they deserve within the Ashram’s care.

Also present at the event were Shri Vijay Gupta, Joint Secretary; Shri Satpal Sharma, Member of the Managing Committee; and Shri Rajinder Singh, Life Member of the Home, who applauded the initiative as an inspiring example of youth-led social engagement.

The visit concluded with an interactive session where students shared reflections on their experience, expressing renewed awareness of their social responsibilities and the importance of nurturing intergenerational bonds. The elderly residents, visibly moved by the students’ warmth and enthusiasm, conveyed their blessings and appreciation, making the day a memorable exchange of kindness and humanity.
