Zeeshan leads deputation of NC workers to DDC Poonch, raises concerns about public services

POONCH, June 28: A deputation of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) workers, led by Zeeshan Rana, Additional Spokesperson of JKNC Jammu, called on the District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Poonch, Choudhary Mohammad Yasin and discussed various issues faced by the people of Mehdhar Tehsil. The meeting highlighted concerns regarding governance, accountability, public services, and infrastructure development in the district.

During the meeting, Rana expressed his dissatisfaction with the current work culture in Poonch, stating that the district’s rank of 20th on the Good Governance Index reflects the lack of accountability among government officers. He emphasized that without fixing accountability, the working culture cannot be improved, and urged for measures to address this issue.

Rana highlighted the prevailing challenges in different government departments, leading to inadequate services for the people of Poonch. He requested the District Commissioner to hold all officers accountable for their responsibilities in implementing various public-related schemes.

Rana raised serious concerns about the dilapidated condition of roads, failures in water supply schemes, frequent power outages, and the lack of adequate healthcare facilities. He also raised concern over the failure of the government to provide regular water supply to the people of Poonch, specifically in Mendhar.

Rana mentioned that approximately 57 water supply schemes initiated nearly a decade ago during the tenure of former MLA Javed Rana are currently non-functional. He urged for an inquiry into this matter to ensure accountability and to address the water scarcity issue.

The deputation also highlighted the sub-standard quality of roads constructed in the last six months in villages such as Salwah, Banola, Battidar, and Chhungan Jugal.

Rana stressed the need for an investigation into the usage of inferior materials during the construction of these roads. Additionally, he also emphasized the urgent need to address the rising drug menace in the district, calling for effective measures to control and combat this issue.

The deputation of JKNC workers reiterated their commitment to raising and addressing the concerns of the people of Poonch. They expressed hope that the district administration would take immediate action to rectify the prevailing issues and work towards improving the overall governance and public services in Poonch.

The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the issues put forth by the deputation and assured to resolve the aforesaid issues at the earliest.

The deputation comprised of BDC Chairperson Mendhar Tahira Jabeen, Adv. Nazir Hussain Zonal VP, Mian Sheraz Azhari, Zonal Secretary, Sayeed Choudhary District Secretary Poonch, Sarpanches and party’s office bearers from Mendhar.
