₹931 Crore Adata Data Centre Project Launched in Chennai

Taiwanese memory giant to create 823 jobs as Tamil Nadu boosts high-value electronics manufacturing

CHENNAI, Feb 27 : Taiwan based Adata Technology has formally entered Tamil Nadu’s manufacturing landscape with the foundation stone ceremony of its ₹931 crore semiconductor facility at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Sriperumbudur.

The plant will be operated by its wholly owned subsidiary, Adata Semiconductor Private Limited, and will produce DRAM memory modules and flash storage devices for desktops, laptops, servers and other computing platforms.

The event was attended by M K Stalin and Industries Minister T R B Rajaa. The project stems from a memorandum of understanding signed with the state government on January 8, 2024.

With an investment commitment of ₹931 crore, the unit is projected to generate 823 skilled employment opportunities. The initiative strengthens Tamil Nadu’s position in semiconductor and advanced electronics manufacturing under the national India Semiconductor Mission.

State officials highlighted that the focus is shifting from basic assembly operations to the production of critical, high value electronic components that power global computing systems. Tamil Nadu currently contributes more than 41% of India’s electronics exports, reinforcing its status as a leading manufacturing hub in the country.
