Prime Minister Modi paid obeisance at Gurudwara Rakab Ganj

New Delhi, 20 December : Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the historic Gurudwara Rakab Ganj in Delhi on Sunday. Paying tribute to the ninth Guru Tegh Bahadur of the Sikh community, he said that the thoughts and life of Guru Tegh Bahadur always inspire me.
Seeing the Prime Minister in a gurudwara without any pre-determined program, there was no place for the happiness of the people who came to visit the gurdwara. During this time, the Prime Minister also interacted with the people in the courtyard and gave the people ample opportunity to take selfies with them. The Prime Minister came to the gurdwara just like the common people. During this time, no diversions or additional arrangements were made on the road to restrict the movement of passengers.
Guru Tegh Bahadur’s death anniversary was celebrated on Saturday. His last rites were performed at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj near Parliament House. He was assassinated in Delhi in the 17th century on the orders of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “This morning I had the privilege to pay obeisance at the historic Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib, where the body of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was cremated. Like millions of people around the world, the thoughts and life of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur always inspire me.
He said that it is a special grace of Guru Sahib that we are getting an opportunity to celebrate the 400th Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji during the tenure of our government. Come, make this auspicious occasion historic and adopt the ideals of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in your life.(HC).
